OVERVIEW

Situated between Hawaii and the Philippines, Marshall Islands is a five hour flight from Honolulu and a 7 hour flight from Manila. Consisting of atrail of volcanic islands and coral atolls, one can easily rent a small boat and travel from the capital of Majuro to outlying islands which offer undisturbed waters and unblemished white sands. The paradise of Eneko Island, for instance, features basic housing and necessities where a production could shoot for weeks undisturbed by civilian traffic or tourists.

But we promised you more than that, right? How do you like these options:
Kalalin Pass is a cradle of marine life and an absolute dream for anyone production looking to shoot some of the most vibrant and stunning underwater scenes of ocean life available on the planet.

Bikini Atoll is likely the most astounding diving destination on the planet. Following WWII, it was the site of various nuclear weapons tests orchestrated by the US government on a fleet of navy ships packed with livestock! Today, it is one of the biggest ship graveyards in the world, making Bikini atoll a fantastic location for documentary films, reality television shows or a variety of storylines. That said, transportation must be prearranged and filming permissions must be negotiated well in advance.

FILM LOCATIONS

The Marshall Islands is a veritable tropical paradise, consisting of 1156 islands, and islets, many of which are uninhabited. Therefore, there are few places that offer such a broad range of islands paradise type locations, with many being less than an hours boat ride from the capital island of Majuro.

FILM PERMITS & PERMISSIONS:

Small filming projects on the Marshall Islands can be done without permissions, for larger projects the process is relatively simple, and something we can happily arrange.

FILM TALENT, CREWS & EQUIPMENT:

div

We can offer local fixers, for film makers and journalists. Our local partner has worked with major outlets, such as CNN, and the BBC. Services include local casting, location scouting, and general fixing. There is a 5-hour direct flight from Hawaii, which offers much broader options for crew talent and equipment.

FILM COST, TAX INCENTIVES & CO-PRODUCTION OPPORTUNITIES:

div

The Marshall Islands, whilst an independent nation is freely-associated with the United States, and thus citizens of the United States can freely do business here (with some exceptions).

As of now there are no tax incentives offered to film in the Marshall Islands.

ACCOMMODATION & TRANSPORTATION FOR FILMMAKERS

div

On the main island of Majuro there are two main hotels, the Hotel Robert Reimers, and the Marshall Islands Resort, colloquially known as the MIR. Accommodation is far from cheap, but both are around the 3, or 4-star mark and cost under $100. For longer stays discounts can be negotiated.

On the outer islands accommodation is rather eclectic and depends on the size of your crew, and on which island you plan to film on.

VISAS & TRAVEL ADVISORY FOR FILMMAKERS:

div
Marshall Islands Visa Policy

Despite being in free-association with the United States the Marshall Islands as a tourist haven has a very open immigration policy.

Holders of passports from 34 states (including the USA and EU) have completely visa free access, whilst nationals of 64 other nations get visa on arrival. The rest would require a visa. For a full list of the Marshall Islands visa regime please check out this link.
